Public Relations Manager
Sherelyn Roberts is a media professional specializing in public relations, marketing and promotion in the business, academic and non-profit sectors and public engagement. She utilizes new and innovative media and marketing strategies to write press releases, newsletters, public service announcements, media advisories, scripts for videos and speeches and has developed long standing relationships with the media. These relationships with the local and national media were evident when she coordinated the media covering the funeral of Botham Jean, who was shot and killed by a Dallas Policewoman and the Press Conference that followed. This was one of the biggest media events in recent history in Dallas and involved local, national and international media.
She also manages a Public Engagement program which builds relationships with her clients and the community and extends the client’s influence within a community, target audience and/or partner. She uses outreach to access delivery of services, distribute information and establish relationships. Her public engagement and project management experience allows her to successfully service a variety of projects using basic key components including understanding client needs, planning, effective communication and problem-solving skills and managing change and evaluation.
She also has extensive experience in video production and produced four videos for the Visit Dallas website that highlight the African American story in Dallas and includes images of landmarks, the Civil Rights Movement, Elected Officials Speaking Out and The Arts and the African American Community.
She is a graduate of Texas Southern University with a B.A. degree in Journalism. She has participated in the Wesleyan University Writers Workshop, the Harvard University Neiman Journalism Workshop and the Video Production Community Access Workshop at New York University.
